Dawn, My clients export to CSV files using SL 2011 so it can work. The one thing I did run into was trying to export to a disk file from a Crystal Report that uses Crystal Report parameters. That gives an ROI error. That used to work fine under version 6.5. When I talked with Microsoft about this they told me that Crystal Report parameters are not officially supported by the SL ROI and the VB.NET version of ROI does not work with such reports. The fact that it worked with version 6.5 was more of a bit of luck then anything on purpose. So, your post does not give enough details as to what is not working to tell if this is the issue or not. However, my client worked around the issue by launching the report directly out of Crystal Reports and then using the export feature within Crystal Reports. If this is not your issue, please provide some more details as to exactly what is happening and whether your client is using a standard SL report or a custom report.
