In 2015 the export functionality will no longer be static, you will be able to refresh quick query exports to excel. For now I use the "Get external data" functionality in Excel. Select from other data sources, and point it the SQL server, database and table you need. The user you connect to the database with will need view rights to be able to connect. Then it can be refreshed as needed.
